Da domani entreremo nel mese dei Mondiali 2014 che si terranno in Brasile dal 12 giugno al 13 luglio 2014.
Secondo le proiezioni per i Mondiali 2014 di Bloomberg, l’Italia perderà ai terzi di finale contro la Spagna. La finale la giocheranno Spagna e Brasile ma il vincitore questa volta sarà il Brasile 1-0.

Earlier today we put on a program connecting executives from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta with health IT startups from the Atlanta Tech Village. Seven startups had 15 minutes each — five minutes to present and 10 minutes of Q&A — followed by lunch at the end. Most of the presenters used slides with limited product demos. While the event was a success and everyone received value, five out of seven startups used slides on the big screens that were designed as handouts, not for presentations.

Press freedom globally has declined to its lowest level in over a decade, a report conducted by American NGO Freedom House* has found examining legal, political and economic factors affecting the media in 197 countries.
To note that Ghana, Costa Rica, Suriname and Belize enjoy more Press Freedom than Italy.

The project director for Freedom House, Karin Karleker, explains:
We see declines in media freedom on a global level, driven by governments’ efforts to control the message and punish the messenger. In every region of the world last year, we found both governments and private actors attacking reporters, blocking their physical access to newsworthy events, censoring content and ordering the politically motivated firing of journalists.
In 2013 we saw more cases of states targeting foreign reporters and media outlets. Russian and Chinese authorities declined to renew or threatened to withhold visas for prominent foreign correspondents, but the new Egyptian government went a step further by detaining a number of Al Jazeera staff on charges of supporting terrorism.
*Although, must be said, the American NGO Freedom House it is not considered absolutely impartial and free itself.

Le autorità autoproclamate in Ucraina orientale dovrebbero immediatamente rilasciare le persone detenute e porre fine ai rapimenti messi in atto dagli uomini armati che agiscono per conto loro. Il destino di decine di prigionieri rimane sconosciuto, e coloro che sono stati rilasciati e successivamente intervistati da Human Rights Watch hanno testimoniato gravi maltrattamenti.
“Uomini armati affiliati alle forze anti-Kiev hanno rapito attivisti, giornalisti e funzionari locali “, ha detto Anna Neistat, direttore del programma associato presso Human Rights Watch. “Alcuni di quelli che sono già stati rilasciati sono lividi e feriti, mentre non si conosce il destino di decine di altri.”
Tutte le parti coinvolte hanno la responsabilità di rispettare i diritti umani, e le autorità che esercitano il potere sul territorio devono garantire che le forze sotto il loro controllo non violino i diritti umani. Le autorità ucraine, compresa la polizia, dovrebbe adottare tutte le misure possibili per adempiere ai loro obblighi di proteggere la popolazione dagli abusi da parte di tutti i gruppi armati e di punire chi commette abusi.
